Why Humidifiers are Great!

It happens every winter… your nose is dry, skin is cracked, your throat is sore, you “shock” everything you touch.  Increasing the heat is your house decreases the moisture causing the air to be dry, and in turn causing all of the above mention things.

This is where humidifiers come in.  The job of a humidifier is to add moisture back into the air.  There are different types of humidifiers you can get depending on what you want and on your budget.

You can get portable humidifiers off any shelf at most stores.  These can be great if you only want to “humidify” one room or if you have a tight budget.  The downside to these is that you are constantly refilling them with water.  And they usually are only good for a small space.

Another solution is to install a whole house humidifier.  These are great because you literally can “set it and forget it” once it’s installed and programmed.  These are installed directly into your existing heating and cooling system and have minimal maintenance.  These will keep your entire house comfortable and eliminate irritating dryness issues.  The downside to this option is the that is more expensive than a portable humidifier; however, over time this can be a much more cost effective option.
